Formula Sheane 2019 Rounds 1 & 2 Press Release

Our first 2 championship races took place in Mondello on Sunday 14th. While our numbers were not so big 9 starters was a respectable start to the season. The race was as usual competitive and exciting.
At the sharp end Richard Kearney started 2019 as he finished 2018 in front, just, of pole sitter Brian Hearty in the first race. Newcomer Brian Egan was a very creditable third on his first outing, just beating Paul McLoughlin to the line after a tough battle.
Sean Hynes was next up having endured a character building couple of days preparing his car, which has lain idle since 2014. Derek Roddy was next up, a man to watch out for in the future. He is after all Brian Hearty's nephew.
James Sunderland was the next finisher surviving an earlier quick spin ahead of newcomer Mark Carvill. Mark finished both races strongly despite not having tested or driven the track previously.
In the second race Brian Hearty led all the way from pole position ahead of Richard Kearney with Paul McLouglin taking a strong third from Brian Egan. Sean Hynes and James Sunderland had a great dice with Sean just ahead at the flag. Derek Roddy was next up from Mark Carvill.
Keith Stafford suffered cruel luck in both races shearing a clutch disc in race 1 and a cracked cylinder in race 2.
Next up is Bishopscourt and we expect a few extra entries from Enda O'Connor, Niall O'Flynn, Ray McKenna, John Linnane and Chris McCabe.
