Getting Started

If you want to get involved in Formula Sheane, the first thing you should do is come to one of the races. Go to the paddock area and ask where the Sheane Cars garage or awning is. Come by and say hello. Check out ‘The Races’ section of this website to find out when the next race is on.

If you want to get more involved there’s a couple of things you can do; the first is log onto the Marchall’s club website. They’re the people who look after safety at all circuit racing meetings. They are all motor-racing enthusiasts and they get a unique view from their stations around the circuit. They are also vital to every race. The website gives all the details of how to become a race marshal and become central to the sport.

The ultimate level of involvement is to go racing. If you want to get behind the wheel of one of our cars, the first thing you’ll need is a racing licence.

To get started in single-seater racing in Ireland means Formula Vee. These cars are inexpensive and relatively mechanically simple. If you fancy trying one out, log onto the Formula Vee website. For more details on getting started in circuit racing go to the Motorsport Ireland website or give them a call.

Formula Sheane

Formula Sheane featured on Nationwide back in 2003. Andrew Murphy who has been involved for a number of years approached me to take the segment off DVD to make available for all to view and enjoy.
